Chrome 97 is a web browser developed by Google Inc, available for download in full install version for Windows platforms from legacy sources. This version of Chrome was officially released on 2022-01-04 for public access and a brief summary of important updates and change log pertaining to this edition can be read below.

Google Chrome 97.0.4692.71 was built on Blink 97 layout engine using JavaScript V8 engine version 9.7.106. This version is released for Windows, iOS and android platforms and has many functionality additions apart from number of fixes and improvements. While windows edition has major changes, Android & iOS has limited updates in this release. 

Windows edition Changes

• improves security by introducing Control Flow Guard (CFG) for Windows to make memory corruption vulnerabilities more difficult to exploit.
• Removes profiles from memory when their windows are closed. This can save lots of system resources in multi-profile scenarios.
• Disables WebSQL in third-party contexts, such as cross-origin iframes, as a continuation to the deprecation in Chrome 94.
• A shifted Autofill position enables users to preview autofilling more clearly within form fields. The addition of visual icons is a first step to clarifying what fields are expected to be filled. 
  
• Sends a CORS preflight request ahead of any private network requests for subresources, asking for explicit permission from the target server.
• Users can use feature detection to see what types of scripts a browser supports
