Chrome 99 is a web browser developed by Google Inc, available for download in full install version for Windows platforms from legacy sources. This version of Chrome was officially released on 2022-03-01 for public access and a brief summary of important updates and change log pertaining to this edition can be read below.

Google Chrome 99.0.4844.51 was built on Blink 99 layout engine using JavaScript V8 engine version 9.9.115. This version is released for Windows, iOS and android platforms and has many functionality additions apart from number of fixes and improvements. While windows edition has major changes, Android & iOS has limited updates in this release. 

Windows edition Changes

• Handwriting Recognition API :  Support for this API let you convert handwriting into editable text that too "On the Fly" conversion, unlike old methods adopted like Object Code Recognition. Though it is doing online, you still can utilize this even offline method also.
• Download Shortcut:  Chrome followed Edge which automatically displays an arrow while download starts and progress and disappear once the download is completed. 
• Window Controls Overlay for Progressive Web Apps:  Chrome browser can be made to look like an app with this functionality as now custom content can be placed in the title bar of the browser window with small overlay housing with controls.
• Programmatic Pickers: Now websites can create programmatic pickers like Date, Colors etc which were otherwise earlier possible with custom widgets only.  A popup window can let the user select the data for inputs as it become a native function with this version of Chrome.
• Origin Trials:  Chrome let you participate in Beta versions with this and one such function is Dark mode support for web apps.
• CSS cascade layers: It  gives users more control over their CSS, and helps to prevent style-specificity conflicts.
• Deprecated APIs: There are couple of APIs Support has been removed in this version including Battery Status API, font-family -webkit-standard, and GamepadList
• Updated APIs: Functions which has gone through major updates include Canvas2D API, and WebCodecs.
